The distance on a map is not the whole journey. Start at the front door and finish at the actual destination, including walking, waiting, transfers and parking.
Try both directions
A morning route may be different from the return. Check current operator timetables and service changes, then test the trip on a typical working day if you can. If you drive, include time to park and reach the final building.
Allow for disruption
Work out recurring fares, fuel, parking or other costs. Consider what you would do if your usual route were unavailable. A location is more resilient when there is a workable alternative.
Compare homes fairly
Run the same test for each shortlisted address. Record when you checked the route because timetables and travel conditions can change. The neighbourhood guide helps combine travel with housing and everyday needs.
